1. The video is trying to convey the idea of being happy with where you are in life, as Mr. Gardy tells us in the video that he is. Nowness comes into play first when he talks about how when he makes art he makes it based off what he’s feeling. Whether it be about something from the past or in the future it’s about how he’s feeling about it in that moment. The other time is when he says “I used to sculpt naked women but now I sculpt fish because if I did naked women now I’d be considered a dirty old man.” which focuses on nowness because in this day, with his age that is true while years ago when he was younger it wasn’t yet he doesn’t let that effect his art now he just adapts. I feel the camera did a good job of always making the rooms look spacious as we were told in they are. I think this video definitely has a Utopian impulse because Mr. Gardy is absolutely happy with his life and where he’s at in life and I think that is generally most people’s goal in life, to be genuinely happy and at peace with where they are in life.
2. I feel Robinson uses the character jumping from chapters to convey time. Each time we go to a different characters chapter more time has passed from the other characters as you can see when you get back to that character. Another reason I think this is because I assume that the planets are on different time zones just as on Earth in real life it's morning on one side but night on the other I assume that in 2312 all the planets aren't running at the exact same time, some may be hours, days or even weeks behind or in front of other planets
