I would have to say that I do agree with Benjamin on the matter of being weighed by past actions or crimes. Even if we were not the ones who specifically did it, as human being we are doomed to repeat history if we do not learn from it. I believe that past actions taken by others do affect our freedom now and laws that would be in place.
In Hamlet, I believe we see examples of the problem of this freedom when dealing with Hamlet himself. He is selfish in his actions, getting revenge, using his own individual freedom. I do not believe Shakespeare came to a conclusion in Hamlet regarding this in his novel.
